About The Position

The Cosumnes Community Services District is seeking qualified individuals for the part-time regular position of Site Director. The current vacancies are within the Parks and Recreation Golf Program. Under close supervision, the Site Director plans, organizes, and directs recreation enrichment activities/programs such as day camps, youth and adult sports, leisure and enrichment classes and special events specific to the assigned program area of the position. This position is used throughout the Parks and Recreation Department and responsibilities expected to be performed may vary depending upon the assignment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of fifteen (15) semester units from an accredited college or university in a field closely related to the area to which the position is assigned; or actively enrolled in college or other post high school education
  • Six (6) months of previous experience, or equivalent community/volunteer service in the field to which the position is assigned; or one (1) previous season employed with the CSD
  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain, First Aid and CPR/AED certification within the first thirty (30) days of employment; Certification must be maintained through employment
  • Must possess, and maintain throughout employment a valid California Class "C" driver's license, with a clean driving record
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Knowledge of current methods, techniques, principles, and procedures used in the planning and implementation process for a variety of children's recreational and education activities relevant to the assigned program area
  • Knowledge of basic principles of child development and activities that support growth
  • Knowledge of basic principles of customer service
  • Knowledge of current methods and techniques used in preparing reports, letters, activity calendar/schedule, and memos using a prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style
  • Knowledge of basic operation of appliances, equipment and office machines including a vacuum cleaner, heating and air conditioning unit, intrusion alarm, calculator, computer, keyboard, printers and other peripherals, copier, and fax machine
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; calculation of decimals, ratios, percentages and fractions
  • Ability to effectively and tactfully communicate both orally and in writing with program participants, EGUSD personnel, CSD personnel and the public
  • Ability to analyze and use independent judgment in problem solving fairly routine situations such as responding to customer or employee problems/complaints, supervising children's activities and trips, caring for children with injuries and resolving conflicts between participants to ensure safety
  • Ability to assess potentially unsafe environments for staff and participants
  • Ability to comprehend and prepare reports and forms such as accident, incident, and behavior reports; emergency, registration, and Hold Harmless forms using a prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style
  • Ability to lead the work of others including the assigning, reviewing, planning and coordination of work; providing clear instruction and guidance on a day to day basis

Responsibilities

  • Provides and oversees the implementation of a wide variety of age appropriate activities/curriculum in the assigned program area
  • Provides a safe and clean environment with adequate supervision by implementing guidelines from CSD and Department policies and procedures manuals
  • Arrives on time and in proper attire/appearance as required by CSD guidelines
  • Accountable for all program participants during program hours
  • Monitors behavior of participants
  • Provides courteous and professional service to all program participants, facility users, CSD personnel, EGUSD personnel and the public
  • Maintains daily attendance and registration records, in accordance with registration policies
  • Completes reports, forms, and activity calendars as necessary, and ensures that all reports are completed and submitted accurately and on time
  • Communicates with parents, participants and the public; discusses program concerns and participation issues and provides solutions when appropriate; informs parents of upcoming program activities and CSD events
  • Conducts work tasks safely and in compliance with Department safety standards and the CSD Injury and Illness Prevention Program
  • Reports any potentially unsafe conditions to the supervisor
  • Responsible for, and may assist with, set up and clean up of facility and equipment
  • Enforces rules and regulations of programs and facilities as mandated by CSD policies
  • Actively contributes to building participant enrollment, which may include attending EGUSD school functions, program outreach events and assists supervisory staff in program outreach and marketing
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings and trainings as required; ensures that site staff are fully aware of any and all pertinent information
  • Attends recommended training programs, conferences, courses and other aspects of professional growth
  • Purchases and maintains program/facility supplies and equipment in accordance with policy
  • Provides assistance to supervisors and lower-level workers as required
  • May make recommendations and provides feedback to supervisory staff regarding selection, training, discipline, evaluation and salary of lower level workers
