About The Position

The Site Coordinator is responsible for the overall management and daily operations of a YMCA afterschool program site. This role ensures a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where youth can grow academically, socially, and physically. The Site Coordinator supervises staff, maintains strong relationships with school partners and families, and ensures all program components align with YMCA values and licensing requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in an afterschool or youth development program with increased responsibility.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate practices
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (email, attendance systems, reporting tools)
  • Must pass all pre-employment requirements
  • CPR/First Aid certification required within first 30 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, Recreation, or a related field preferred
  • At least 3 year of supervisory or leadership experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the afterschool program site
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate program staff and volunteers
  • Plan and implement a balanced program that includes academic support, enrichment activities, and physical fitness
  • Ensure compliance with YMCA policies, licensing regulations, and safety procedures
  • Maintain accurate attendance records, incident reports, and program documentation
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with school administrators, teachers, and district partners
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding program updates, student progress, and concerns
  • Manage student behavior using positive guidance and discipline strategies
  • Coordinate special events, family engagement activities, and field trips
  • Monitor program supplies
  • Ensure proper staff-to-student ratios at all times
  • Conduct regular safety drills and ensure emergency procedures are followed
  • Support enrollment, registration, and outreach efforts
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/management.
