About The Position

Join Great Parks as a Site Construction Technician and help build, maintain, and improve park infrastructure through safe and sustainable construction practices. This role supports projects involving roads, trails, parking lots, drainage systems, underground utilities, concrete structures, and natural resource areas. Working closely with the Site Construction Supervisor and Manager, the technician assists with construction, repairs, maintenance, equipment operation, material preparation, and site improvements while ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required and a minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in site construction or related field.
  • Applicant must pass alcohol and drug test upon initial employment and thereafter as a condition of employment.
  • Ability to document identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of original appointment as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements.
  • State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License that meets GPHC current carrier guideline.
  • Possession of a Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License; Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) to be obtained within the first year of employment.
  • First Aid and CPR.

  • Experience with trails, parks, or sustainable construction practices is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs complex construction projects including grading, excavation, utility installation, stormwater systems, roads, parking areas, golf course infrastructure, decks, sidewalks, facilities and trail structures.
  • Constructs and upgrades trails and trail-related infrastructure including culverts, bridges, boardwalks, retaining walls, staircases, fencing, and signage with minimal environmental impact.
  • Operates advanced heavy equipment and precision construction tools to complete work efficiently and to professional standards. Loads and hauls site construction materials including top soil, fill dirt, asphalt, gravel, rip rap and stone, tree debris and other construction related materials. Performs rough carpentry, masonry, concrete forming and finishing, signage, and plumbing as required for projects.
  • As directed by the Site Construction Manager, provides input into determining job methods, labor, material and equipment needs. Collaborates with internal teams, contractors, and volunteer groups to ensure construction projects meet Great Parks’ standards for safety, accessibility, and sustainability.
  • Maintains equipment and power tools. Performs minor mechanical repairs and routine preventive maintenance to small gasoline engines and construction equipment. Changes oil, greases fittings, replaces worn or broken parts, changes filters and performs other maintenance tasks.
  • Maintains work sites in safe and orderly condition and ensures compliance with safety and environmental standards. Maintains and cleans up all project work sites.
  • Performs job duties in accordance with Great Parks’ policies, procedures, and performance expectations.
  • Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and punctual attendance and works outside of normal schedule as required.
