About The Position

HDR is looking for a Site Civil Engineering Team Manager for its Charleston Building Engineering Services Team. This individual will serve as a senior leader and mentor within the Site Civil Engineering Design Group, responsible for managing a design production team of 3 to 5 Civil Design staff. The role involves managing workflow and utilization, mentoring and developing staff, forecasting and scheduling work, performing quality control, and fostering a team environment. Additionally, the position focuses on building team technical expertise and design production capacity through recruitment, staff development, and training. The Team Manager will also function as a technical lead on site development projects, coordinating with other disciplines across HDR, and leading the development of construction drawings, specifications, and supporting engineering calculations, as well as reviewing shop drawings during construction. This role includes participation in leadership for technical service functions, supporting the development of HDR services in site civil planning and design, and direct involvement with external clients, internal project managers, market sector leads, business group managers, and other HDR leaders. Preparing site civil proposals, including scope development and estimating hours/fee, and helping to implement, monitor, and support company policies are also key responsibilities. Some regional/national travel is expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 7 years experience
  • Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Good leadership and organizational skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Nice To Haves

  • PE License Required
  • Strong operating knowledge of Civil 3D
  • Local candidates preferred
