About The Position

S Y Lee Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Designer to support civil design and construction document production for commercial, educational, municipal, healthcare, private, and public-sector projects. The ideal candidate has experience with site civil design, grading, drainage, LID/stormwater, utilities, street lighting, and public improvement/B-Permit projects, and is proficient in AutoCAD. The position will work closely with our MEP engineering teams on site utilities, building service connections, points of connection, and multidisciplinary coordination.

Requirements

  • AutoCAD proficiency required.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil, architectural, utility, and engineering drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with project teams and agencies.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of civil engineering drafting/design experience preferred.
  • Experience with grading, drainage, utilities, street lighting, LID/stormwater, and/or B-Permit work preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare civil construction drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Develop grading, drainage, utility, street improvement, and street lighting plans, profiles, details, and related documents.
  • Assist with design of domestic water, fire water, sanitary sewer, storm drain, LID/stormwater, and underground utility systems.
  • Assist with B-Permit and public improvement plans.
  • Coordinate civil work with architectural, structural, MEP, landscape, utility agencies, and public works departments.
  • Coordinate building utility connections and points of connection with MEP systems.
  • Incorporate engineering markups, plan-check comments, and agency/client comments.
  • Review drawings for accuracy, coordination, and completeness.
  • Maintain drafting/design standards and meet project deadlines.
