Site/Civil Engineer-in-Training (Summer 2027)
About The Position
KCI is looking for a motivated Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with a strong interest in public and private land development engineering to join our Site/Civil team. This opportunity is intended for Spring 2027 graduates, with the position starting in Summer 2027. Requirements
- 0-2 Years of experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-Accredited Program
- General knowledge of required design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Good communication and technical writing skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to maintain required certifications.
Nice To Haves
- Previous internship or work experience in civil/site design or land development
- Familiarity with stormwater management and Storm Drain Computations and software (e.g., HydroCAD, Civil3D)
- Exposure to local permitting agencies or review processes in Maryland or the Mid-Atlantic region
- Previous internships or work experience in the Engineering field.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
Responsibilities
- Support engineering design for commercial, residential, and institutional land development projects
- Perform site layout, grading, stormwater management, utility design, and erosion/sediment control calculations
- Prepare construction documents, plans, and technical specifications using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Assist with local, state, and federal permitting processes (MDE, SHA, county-level agencies)
- Conduct site visits and prepare field observation and construction administration reports associated with Site Development
- Collaborate with team members to prepare project schedules and cost estimates
