About The Position

We are seeking a Site Assistant to join our Construction team in Calgary, Alberta. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands on, working outdoors, and being part of a fast paced construction environment. As a Site Assistant, you will work alongside the Site Superintendent to ensure homes are built safely, efficiently, and to Akash standards. You will play a critical role in maintaining job site organization, supporting inspections, and helping ensure trade partners meet quality expectations. This is a strong entry point into residential construction with exposure to multiple phases of the build process and opportunities for long term growth. At Akash Homes, growth happens quickly. Requirements

  • Experience in general labour or residential construction is preferred.
  • Understanding basic construction principles and job site safety practices.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive problem-solving ability and willingness to take initiative.
  • Comfort using hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
  • Physical capability to lift materials and work in varying weather conditions.
  • Reliable transportation. A truck is preferred.
  • A clean Driver’s Abstract is required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain clean and organized job sites, including waste removal, sweeping, vacuuming, and snow clearing when required.
  • Ensure safe access to homes under construction by maintaining pathways and temporary walkways.
  • Support quality control efforts by preparing sites for inspections and performing general labour tasks.
  • Conduct site inspections and assist with quality checks to help ensure work meets Akash standards.
  • Coordinate with Site Supervisors and Project Managers regarding material deliveries, timelines, and workflow priorities.
  • Support and reinforce high standards with trade partners and subcontractors to help maintain timelines and quality expectations.
  • Perform minor repair and finishing tasks including framing adjustments, drywall touch ups, painting, deck stair and railing installation, and similar small scope construction work.
  • Safely operate hand tools and power tools to complete assigned site tasks.
