Simulation Software Engineer

Reliable Robotics Corporation•Mountain View, CA

About The Position

Reliable Robotics is developing safety-enhancing technology for aviation. The Simulation Software Engineer will shape the simulation software stack, including framework performance, flight dynamics modeling, hardware emulation, and simulation-based test infrastructure. The role leads projects to build a robust, deterministic, and scalable simulation framework that accelerates testing of safety-critical systems, and works with flight software, guidance/navigation/control, and hardware test stakeholders to expand and improve the system’s architecture, performance, reproducibility, and flexibility. The engineer will evaluate and drive project decisions and mentor team members. This position is part of the Simulation and Test Systems team, which builds infrastructure for developing, testing, and deploying autonomous aircraft software. The work spans hardware-in-the-loop test environments, high-fidelity physics simulation, and cloud-based Monte Carlo infrastructure, supporting extensive flight-equivalent testing across flight plans, environmental conditions, and system faults. Travel of up to 10% is required. Access to export-controlled information requires compliance with U.S. export control laws and documentation establishing the applicant’s status as a U.S. person or non-U.S. person.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of industry experience in simulation systems within aviation, automotive, or comparable environments.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience with object-oriented C++ and Python or other scripting languages.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Must be able to provide documentation establishing U.S. person or non-U.S. person status for export-control compliance; access to controlled technology is subject to applicable U.S. export laws.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience modeling aircraft dynamics.
  • Experience developing simulations for safety-critical or DO-178 software and hardware systems.
  • Experience architecting complex distributed and real-time software frameworks.

  • Excellent documentation and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects to develop a robust, deterministic, and scalable software simulation framework for testing safety-critical systems.
  • Collaborate with flight software, guidance/navigation/control, and hardware test engineers to expand the simulation system.
  • Improve the simulation’s core architecture, performance, reproducibility, and flexibility.
  • Evaluate and drive key project decisions.
  • Mentor team members.
  • Develop and support simulation infrastructure used for autonomous aircraft software development, testing, and deployment.

Benefits

  • Stock options.
  • Employee medical benefits.
  • 401(k) contribution.
  • Cash awards.
  • Casual work environment.
