About The Position

The Simulation Coordinator is a full-time, 12-month assistant professor in residence position responsible for leadership, strategic oversight, and management of low-fidelity to high-fidelity clinical simulation learning activities for students in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.

Requirements

  • Eligible for or holds a license as a registered nurse in the state of Illinois
  • At least two years of experience in clinical nursing practice
  • Additional simulation experience
  • A minimum of an earned master’s degree with a major in nursing
  • Advanced computer skills with the use of simulation equipment and technology.
  • Strong and empathetic communication and emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Accurate record-keeping skills.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude, ability, and hopefulness about learning with conviction to transform weaknesses into opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the simulation and skills lab, including scheduling and coordinating activities with the Undergraduate Program Director and nursing faculty.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and emerging applications of simulation equipment and technology through ongoing professional development and participation in recommended trainings.
  • Manage and maintain simulation equipment and supplies, ensuring they are in good working order through collaboration with the Undergraduate Program Director and Department of Nursing Assessment & Evaluation Coordinator.
  • Educate and support faculty in the use of simulation technology and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with faculty to evaluate student learning during simulation and skills curriculum.
  • Analyze the simulation curriculum and evaluation processes to ensure they support competency-based nursing education requirements as outlined in the updated AACN Essentials (2026).
  • Ensure the simulation and skills lab curriculum and evaluation processes comply with accreditation standards.
  • Provide or arrange for technological support for simulation as needed.
  • Implement plans, policies, and procedures for the Simulation Lab.
  • Coordinate and schedule the use of the Simulation Lab with all course levels and any outside users and oversee the integration of simulation into all levels of the nursing curriculum.
  • Develop, review, and revise in collaboration with faculty, policy and procedures related to simulation-based education.
  • Facilitate evaluation of the use of simulation in the nursing curriculum.
  • Achieve INACSL certification and maintain certification while continuously increasing expertise in simulation education.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Nursing Chairperson.
