The Silver Braze torch operator is a key member of the manufacturing team in a high mix, lower volume environment, reporting to the Operations supervisor. Airtomic is an FAA Repair Station, this position performs all required pressure testing and cleaning of all aircraft engine components as defined in the engineering process routing. Read and understand routing instructions are critical to ensure product safety. The position is critical to the production process and the repair of tube, duct, and manifolds for aircraft engines. The ideal candidate enjoys problem solving, working in a fast-paced environment and self-directed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Experience brazing thin-walled material (Stainless Steel)
  • Must be able to pass an AWS silver braze certification test sample
  • Steady hand-eye coordination to handle small components, filler rods, and fine flame control
  • Understanding of metal properties, temperature control, and gas pressure settings.
  • 2 years’ experience working with hand tools
  • Attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of this position
  • Ability to organize priorities, daily tasks and complete actions on time, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong work ethic and leadership ability
  • Must be able to show proof of legally ability to work in United States
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Must be able to pass FAA drug screen and background check

  • Aerospace / Defense industry experience a plus
  • Read and interpret blueprints and approved technical data

Responsibilities

  • Acts proactively supporting safety at all times. Safety is ALWAYS first
  • Position is up tempo and very detail oriented
  • Ignite and adjust gas torches (such as oxy-acetylene or air-acetylene setups) to achieve a precise, neutral flame.
  • Clean metal surfaces, apply flux to prevent oxidation, and feed silver brazing alloy rods into joints using capillary action.
  • Inspect cracks, proper fill, or overheating using visual checks and precision measuring tools
  • Maintain torches, tips, gas regulators, and safety equipment, reporting any malfunctions immediately
  • Ensures products adhere to quality standards
  • Ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
  • Ability to adapt, communicate, be decisive, be dependable, and take initiative.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with coworkers
  • Ensure hazardous materials are properly labeled, stored, and handled for proper disposal.
  • Polishing and basic blending of product
  • Retrieve fixtures
  • As required, performs work assignments as directed.
  • Cold Work metal tubes, ducts, and manifolds to conform to check fixtures.
