About The Position

The Silk Screen Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and inspection of metal components that are silk screened using ATMA silk screen machines. This role requires a strong understanding of screen-printing processes, ink handling and curing requirements, and cosmetic quality standards, or the ability and capacity to learn the processes. The operator ensures printed components meet all visual, dimensional, and durability requirements prior to release to downstream sub-assembly operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, drawings, and visual standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and understanding of cosmetic quality requirements.
  • Being able to sit and stand at variable times throughout the day
  • Ability to lift weights that may exceed 25lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing machine operation, preferably on metal components.
  • Experience operating ATMA or other silk screen machines is strongly preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Setup and operate ATMA silk screen machines in accordance with work instructions, job travelers, and production schedules.
  • Load and align metal components, screens, fixtures, and tooling to ensure accurate print registration and repeatability.
  • Prepare, mix, and handle ink by specified process requirements, including viscosity control and screen compatibility.
  • Monitor and manage ink curing cycles, including loading parts into curing ovens and verifying 30-minute oven cycles are completed per specification.
  • Ensure printed parts meet curing requirements prior to handling, taping, or downstream processing.
  • Maintain awareness of ink pot life, environmental conditions, and curing windows that may impact print quality.
  • Apply masking or protective tape to designated areas prior to or following silk screening as required by the process.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections to verify print clarity, adhesion, color consistency, and cosmetic appearance.
  • Inspect for defects such as smearing, misalignment, incomplete coverage, pinholes, or contamination.
  • Segregate nonconforming material and communicate quality concerns to supervision or quality personnel.
