About The Position

NVIDIA is seeking a new college graduate to join its Silicon Co-Design Engineering Team. The team productizes NVIDIA chips for consumer, professional, server, mobile, and automotive solutions. The role involves characterizing pre-production silicon and validating system features, investigating hardware failures, and solving silicon- and system-level problems to help bring products to market and refine future designs. The engineer will analyze workloads and silicon performance to improve energy efficiency, assess features and techniques for productization, and develop or commission tools to automate characterization, testing, data collection, and analysis.

Requirements

  • Completing a BS, MS, or PhD in EE, CE, Systems Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, analysis, and logical-reasoning skills, supported by examples.
  • Understanding of digital design, circuit analysis, algorithms, computer architecture, BIOS, drivers, and software applications.
  • Strong programming skills in one or more of Python, JavaScript, or C/C++.
  • Comfort working in a lab environment and interest in creating, executing, and improving silicon validation plans.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with statistical methods and data-analysis tools, including analyzing large datasets to draw actionable conclusions and possibly applying deep-learning techniques.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity, timing analysis, fault analysis, sampling, computer architecture, and filters.
  • Familiarity with lab tools such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Experience in database and web development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement methodologies to characterize silicon and validate system features on pre-production silicon.
  • Lead root-cause analysis of hardware failures through lab experimentation and collaboration with other NVIDIA teams.
  • Find solutions to silicon- and system-level problems, productize silicon, and refine future designs and post-silicon architected features.
  • Analyze workloads such as DL/AI, AAA games, Adobe Suite, and video conferencing to identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency.
  • Characterize pre-production silicon for speed, performance, power, yield, and quality, and correlate results to design.
  • Design or commission tools on evaluation platforms to automate and optimize characterization, data collection, test execution, and results analysis.
  • Evaluate the return and investment of new techniques and features, including use-case benefits and design-for-productization.
