About The Position

The City of Hampton is seeking a Signs and Pavement Marking Supervisor to lead a team responsible for installing and maintaining roadway signs, pavement markings, traffic barriers, and guardrails. The supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of semi-skilled staff and ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable standards. The role calls for experience in thermoplastic pavement marking and traffic sign installation and contributes directly to roadway safety and maintenance.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree, or specialized courses or training equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college, in a directly related field of study.
• At least five years of full-time-equivalent experience in thermoplastic pavement marking and traffic signing fabrication and installation.
• Intermediate or Advanced Work Zone Certification from ATSSA and/or IMSA Signs and Pavement Markings Level II Certification, or experience to obtain certification within one year of employment.
• Ability to learn and use the Lucity Work Order and Data Management System within six months of employment.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, basic Excel, and email.
• Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record under the City of Hampton’s criteria.
• Valid Virginia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), or a CDL instructional permit and ability to obtain the CDL within 180 days of employment.
• Must pass a position-related background check before an offer of employment or promotion.
• Position is safety-sensitive and subject to alcohol and controlled-substance testing under the City’s current substance abuse policy.
