About The Position

The Signals Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances signal-processing software, including detectors, demodulators, and protocol processors. The role may be performed individually or as part of a team. It reviews and tests software components against design requirements, documents test results, resolves software problem reports, and applies development and design methodologies suited to the development environment. The engineer contributes to system design decisions involving hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, COTS/GOTS alternatives, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components. The role involves designing and implementing signal-processing algorithms and software, integrating software into system environments, testing and documenting software, investigating system problems, and improving development processes. The engineer may serve as a team lead and lead one or more software development teams, ensuring work meets the applicable process constraints. The position is based in Annapolis Junction, Maryland, requires a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph, and does not require travel. Sunayu, LLC describes itself as a technology partner to the Defense and Intelligence communities, delivering mission-critical engineering solutions. The company emphasizes collaboration, professional growth, open communication, trust, accountability, and ethical transparency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university, or four additional years of qualifying SSWE or equivalent experience on projects with similar software processes in place of the degree.
  • At least seven years of experience as a Signals Software Engineer (SSWE) or equivalent on a project focused on Radio Frequency (RF).
  • RF-related experience must include Fourier transforms, filtering, communications theory, digital modulation, error-control coding, signal-analysis tools (e.g., WVT, DVT), and digital signal processing (e.g., adaptive beamforming/filtering and demodulation).
  • TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  • Advanced understanding of the Linux operating system.
  • Ability to write software using C++ and Java.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
  • Design and code new software or modify existing software to add features, correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance.
  • Debug software and correct defects; investigate problem areas and identify the source of problems in radio-frequency processing and associated enterprise systems.
  • Develop and implement algorithms that meet system performance and functional standards, including complex signal-processing algorithms subject to timing, resource, and interface constraints.
  • Apply signal-processing algorithms to convert signals and design signal-processing software based on sparse documentation.
  • Integrate existing software into new or modified systems and operating environments.
  • Assist in developing and executing software-component test procedures; review and test components against design requirements and document test results.
  • Write and review software and system documentation, and recommend and implement improvements to documentation and software-development standards.
  • Analyze system flows, data usage, and work processes; confer with users and system or software engineers to derive requirements and clarify project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
  • Develop and maintain software frameworks that enable efficient data processing.
  • Perform quality control on products.
  • Serve as a team lead as appropriate to the software-development process and lead one or more software-development teams, ensuring work is completed within process constraints.
  • Use C++ and Java to write software, and suggest other languages when appropriate to solve problems.
  • Apply an advanced understanding of Linux and identify signal-processing techniques, digital modulation techniques, and relevant signal-analysis methods.
