About The Position

Performs electrical maintenance, repair, and construction work in the field of traffic control, including the installation of wiring for traffic signal devices, signal poles and arms, and breaker boxes. Assists with the installation and maintenance of freeway lighting facilities, street lights, and underground conduit. Prepares supplies and equipment for field installation and assists traffic signal technicians and electricians. This role also involves performing other duties as required.

Requirements

• Thorough knowledge in the installation, repair, and maintenance of traffic control devices.
• Knowledge of applicable safety regulations and procedures.
• Skilled in the use of tools and equipment required in the construction and maintenance of signal and electronic equipment.
• Ability to work from plans and schematics.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city officials, employees, and the public.
• Ability to effectively communicate orally.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform job assignments with limited supervision.
• Ability to drive all vehicles assigned to the Transportation Division including pickups, pole cats, bucket trucks and dump trucks.
• Ability to make mathematical calculations.
• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Minimum three (3) years working experience in the building maintenance/construction trade at a Journeyman level in the electrical/electronic field.
• Possess a valid Class C driver's license with a good driving record.
• Must obtain a valid Texas Driver's License Class A or B/CDL within one (1) year from date of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the repair and maintenance of traffic signals preferred.
• Level II IMSA Certification desirable.
• Must obtain IMSA work zone certification and IMSA Level I Traffic Signal Certification within three (3) years of hire date.
