About The Position

The purpose of this position is to install, inspect, repair, maintain, and clean traffic signs and traffic control devices. This role involves installing and setting up emergency and non-emergency road closures and detour routes, providing traffic control for special events, generating and managing work orders, and coordinating traffic control device placement to avoid underground utilities. The position also includes maintaining equipment and performing routine cleaning of service trucks and storage facilities, as well as responding to after-hours on-call service needs.

Requirements

• Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
• Applicants must meet the City criteria for an acceptable driving record.
• Operating a computer and applicable software applications.
• Applying local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations.
• Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Responsibilities

• Installs, inspects, repairs, maintains, and cleans all signs for the City.
• Installs and sets up emergency and non-emergency road closures and detour routes for City departments.
• Provide traffic control for special events.
• Generates work orders, enters data, and closes out work orders.
• Calls in coordinates of traffic control devices to ensure proper placement so it does not interfere with underground utilities.
• Maintains equipment and performs routine cleaning on service truck equipment and materials in storage facility.
• Responds to on-call service needs after hours.
• Performs other similar duties as required.
