About The Position

The Novo Nordisk Sickle Cell Community Liaison (SCCL) is a field-based, community-facing colleague who serves as the center of coordination for patient-related activities across the community and NNI. Their role is to engage with patients and caregivers, educate on disease state, NNI products (once available) and support offerings and activate patients and caregivers in their own care. This is accomplished by engaging with patients and caregivers one-on-one and at community events. The Sickle Cell Community Liaison (SC CL) is expected to possess a high level of clinical and customer knowledge, have experience with headquarter protocols and possess drive and spirit to engage the sickle cell community.

Requirements

  • A Bachelors degree required, scientific degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience required. Relevant experience may include sickle cell disease healthcare, advocacy, non-profit community-based organization leadership, business-to-business sales, or pharmaceutical sales experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate fluent or high-level proficiency in Spanish; in both oral and written communication preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Pharmaceutical Sales or Specialty Pharmacy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a single point of contact to build relationships with patients, caregivers, community-based patient organizations, patient advocacy groups and specialty pharmacy representatives.
  • Engage patients and caregivers in education related to disease state, NNI products (once available), wellness, lifestyle and NNI patient services.
  • Educate patients and caregivers so that they can take action in their own care resulting in patient driven demand for NNI products (once available).
  • Identify key opportunities to educate on the importance of shared decision making and optimizing care.
  • Provide education through one-on-one patient and caregiver meetings, small group meetings, patient conferences, local community-based organization events and other community opportunities.
  • Seek to understand local, state and national healthcare issues impacting the Sickle Cell Community and align to the NNI Government Affairs team to inform, support and collaborate, where appropriate.
  • Proactively work to continually deepen NNIs relationship with state and local advocacy organizations and other non-traditional organization that supports people living with Sickle Cell Disease.
  • Coordinate policy initiatives with Government Affairs.
  • Develop, maintain and execute a strategic business plan to effectively cover their territory and engage with patients, community and specialty pharmacy representatives to educate on NNI brands (once available) and other educational offerings for the community.
  • Represent NNI while planning and conducting meetings with community-based organizations with the goal of educating on disease state, NNI products (once available), wellness, lifestyle and NNI patient services.
  • Lead planning, execution and pull-through of speaker programs for the education of patients and caregivers.
  • Manage discretionary budget, field travel and utilization of resources for maximum impact on territory performance.
  • All activities are executed in close collaboration with leadership, legal and compliance to ensure that they are implemented to meet NNI Way and comply with relevant regulations and policies.
