About The Position

Knox College invites applications for a full-time, 10-month Driver for Student Transportation. The position primarily serves the Knox College Kleine Center for Community Service and the Division of Student Development. The Driver transports students to local volunteer opportunities and events, provides some airport drop-off and pick-up service, occasionally attends meetings with community partners, and maintains documents related to the driving schedule and number of passengers transported. The Driver is expected to have strong organizational and time-management skills, ensure passenger safety and comfort, and interact with passengers professionally and politely. Some nights and weekends are required.

Requirements

Proven experience as a driver.
A valid driver's license.
A clean driving record.
Minimum visual acuity of 20/50, or corrected to 20/50.
Familiarity with GPS devices.
Ability to use email and a cell phone for general communication and employee-hours reporting.
Knowledge of area roads and neighborhoods.
Availability to take Sunday evening shifts and occasionally take weekend and night shifts.
A polite and professional disposition.

Nice To Haves

A high school diploma is preferred.

Responsibilities

Pick up passengers at the place and time outlined by the Kleine Center.
Maintain safe driving practices at all times.
Maintain passenger records related to all driving events.
Listen to traffic and weather reports to stay up to date on road conditions.
Answer questions about the area and local places of interest.
Ensure car seats are clean and comfortable for all riders.
Make recommendations about regular car service appointments and report any issues.
Maintain the interior and exterior cleanliness of the car using car wash and detailing services.
