SHUTTLE DRIVER - FRESNO
About The Position
PITCO Foods is hiring a Class A Shuttle Driver in Fresno. PITCO Foods is an independent foodservice distributor based in San Jose, California, with distribution centers in Brisbane, Oakland, and Sacramento. The driver safely operates a tractor-trailer in compliance with commercial driving regulations, transporting products between locations. The route involves taking an empty trailer from the Fresno yard to the Sacramento yard, picking up loaded trailers, and returning them to Fresno. The position requires a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and the ability to meet delivery schedules. Requirements
- Possess a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Have at least one year of experience using an active Class A driver’s license.
- Have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards and a clean driving record.
- Meet Department of Transportation regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier regulations.
- Be able to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be able to lift and move bulky or heavy items weighing up to 60 pounds without assistance.
- Pass a drug test and background check.
- Be authorized to work in the United States.
- Have basic written and verbal communication skills.
- Be able to hook up and break down sets of trailers, requiring an average lift force of about 100 pounds several times per month.
- Be able to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in and out of the truck, and perform required reaching, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving.
- Be able to follow instructions and complete required training.
- Be able to work independently and/or as a team member.
- Demonstrate professionalism, self-motivation, teamwork, flexibility, problem-solving, stress tolerance, effective communication, initiative, safety orientation, integrity, and relationship-building skills.
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual ability is a plus but is not required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers and report issues or concerns to management.
- Review and maintain route paperwork for completeness and accuracy.
- Operate vehicles safely within PITCO guidelines while minimizing accidents and traffic violations.
- Complete the driver log.
- Shuttle an empty trailer from the Fresno yard to the Sacramento yard, pick up loaded trailers, and shuttle them back to Fresno.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
