About The Position

Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H) has an opportunity for a motivated, forward-thinking, and dedicated individual as a Shunt Driver for their Milling division based in Hamilton, ON. P&H is the largest Canadian-owned milling company, sourcing wheat from across Canada to produce quality flour and cereal products. The P&H Milling Group supplies flour to customers throughout Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Iceland, and Pacific Rim countries from its mills in Halifax, Nova Scotia; Acton, Hanover, Hamilton, and Cambridge, Ontario; Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and Lethbridge, Alberta. Requirements

  • Possession of an Ontario Class AZ license.
  • A clear driver's abstract.
  • Medical in good standing.
  • Minimum 5 years of driving experience or truck driving school graduate and 3 years of experience.
  • Able to safely lift and carry up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work morning, afternoon, and evening start times per customer delivery requests.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently moving trailers and containers within the warehouse or distribution yard.
  • Operating dry box or bulk tankers to move goods to designated parking spots or loading docks.
  • Organizing inventory by positioning trailers in a manner that facilitates efficient loading and unloading operations.
  • Adhering to all safety protocols and procedures while operating vehicles within the yard, including obeying speed limits and maintaining awareness of pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
  • Conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections of shunt trucks, reporting any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to supervisors.
  • Communicating effectively with warehouse personnel, truck drivers, and other team members to coordinate trailer movements and ensure smooth operations.
  • Completing necessary paperwork or electronic logs related to trailer movements, inventory counts, and vehicle inspections.
  • Performing basic maintenance tasks on shunt trucks to keep them in good working order.
