About The Position

Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H) has an opportunity for a motivated, forward-thinking, and dedicated individual as a Shunt Driver for their Milling division based in Hamilton, ON. Requirements

Possession of an Ontario Class AZ license.
A clear driver's abstract.
Medical in good standing.
Minimum 5 years of driving experience or truck driving school graduate and 3 years of experience.
Able to safely lift and carry up to 50lbs.
Ability to work morning, afternoon, and evening start times per customer delivery requests.

Responsibilities

Safely and efficiently moving trailers and containers within the warehouse or distribution yard.
Operating dry box or bulk tankers to move goods to designated parking spots or loading docks.
Organizing inventory by positioning trailers in a manner that facilitates efficient loading and unloading operations.
Adhering to all safety protocols and procedures while operating vehicles within the yard, including obeying speed limits and maintaining awareness of pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
Conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections of shunt trucks, reporting any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to supervisors.
Communicating effectively with warehouse personnel, truck drivers, and other team members to coordinate trailer movements and ensure smooth operations.
Completing necessary paperwork or electronic logs related to trailer movements, inventory counts, and vehicle inspections.
Performing basic maintenance tasks on shunt trucks to keep them in good working order.
