About The Position

Come join the Stetson-Hatcher School of Business dynamic team as the Graduate Assistant for the Center for Sports Analytics! The Graduate Assistant will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Center for Sports Analytics and supporting Business School faculty, staff, and students as needed.

  • Eligible students must be admitted to a full-time Business Master’s Degree Program at Mercer prior to receiving GA benefits.
  • The GA will be expected to complete the program in 1 year, including Fall, Spring, and Summer.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee collecting, managing, and analyzing baseball-related data to provide insights for player performance, team strategies, and opponent scouting.
  • Utilize statistical software and databases to organize and analyze large datasets, including player statistics, game logs, and scouting reports.
  • Collaborate with coaching staff to identify key performance metrics and develop data-driven strategies to improve team performance.
  • Conduct research on emerging trends and technologies in baseball analytics, staying current with advancements in data collection methods and statistical modeling techniques.
  • Create visualizations and reports to effectively communicate analytical findings to coaching staff, players, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain proprietary analytical tools and models to support decision-making processes.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to data management, including data entry, quality control, and documentation.
  • Contribute to ongoing projects and initiatives within the baseball analytics department, collaborating with other team members as needed.
  • Pursue professional development opportunities, including attending conferences, workshops, and training sessions, to enhance skills and knowledge in baseball analytics.
  • Collaborate with adjacent School of Business offices (CCPD, Advising, Admissions, etc.) on various tasks and projects as needed.
