About The Position

A student employee with specialized skills is required to fulfill the demands of a research project funded by NIH NIA – New Mexico Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (NM ADRC) (P30AG086404). The student will be performing funded research activities directly aligned with the project’s approved Scope of Work (community engagement and outreach, recruitment, registry, etc.) under direction of the Co-Director of the Outreach, Recruitment, and Engagement Core of the NM ADRC, and director of the UNM Brain Crew Lab, Dr. Jessica D. Richardson.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM
  • Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count)
  • If Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Nice To Haves

  • Seeking a degree in a Speech and Hearing Sciences
  • GPA in SHS coursework that exceeds 3.2
  • Experience volunteering in behavioral research lab (e.g., UNM Brain Crew Lab or other similar lab and clinical population)
  • Experience working with adults with acquired (through injury or disease) brain differences and resultant cognitive and communication challenges
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, initiative, and good judgment
  • Record of effective communication and flexibility
  • Welcoming personality
  • Dependability
  • Available 8 hours a week during the Fall 2026 Semester
  • Experience with technology
  • Evidence of strong organizational and record-keeping skills
  • Available to work for a minimum of two (2) consecutive semesters
  • Skills in outreach with communities throughout the state
