About The Position

This is a temporary/interim, hourly, non-exempt position based in California, anticipated to last approximately 3–8+ months depending on business needs. The hourly rate for this role is $30-$32/hour, based on experience, in compliance with California's pay transparency requirements. As a non-exempt employee in California, this role is eligible for: Overtime pay at 1.5x the regular rate for hours worked beyond 8 in a single workday or 40 in a single workweek, and for the first 8 hours worked on the 7th consecutive day in a workweek Double-time pay at 2x the regular rate for hours worked beyond 12 in a single workday, or beyond 8 hours on the 7th consecutive day in a workweek Meal and rest breaks as required under California law (a 30-minute unpaid meal break for shifts over 5 hours, a second meal break for shifts over 10 hours, and paid 10-minute rest breaks for each 4 hours worked). In this role, you will focus on executing processes and procedures that ensure the showroom exceeds performance targets, and maintains brand consistency. This role will be based out of our Santa Monica Showroom.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of retail sales management or customer experience
  • A track record of driving sales results and hitting or exceeding targets
  • Experienced in hiring and managing a team
  • Innovative, positive, proactive team player
  • Highly effective in written and verbal communication
  • Proficiency on Apple products including Macbook and Ipad
  • Previous experience with Shopify
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for training, company conferences, or to support store launches
  • Experience working in menswear and/or a startup, preferably
  • Kind, collaborative, and creative
  • Takes pride in work and accountability for any success or failure

Responsibilities

  • Model exceptional selling behaviors on the floor, leading by example in customer engagement, product knowledge, and closing techniques
  • Partner with associates on personalized follow-up and client outreach to build repeat business and long-term customer relationship
  • Coach associates in real time on the floor, using observation and immediate feedback to sharpen selling skills and build confidence in every customer interaction
  • Develop and run sales contests, incentives, and recognition programs that reinforce a results-driven culture
  • Set and communicate clear daily, weekly, and monthly sales goals, holding associates accountable to individual and store targets through regular check-ins
  • Understand and communicate The Black Tux’s values and brand philosophy to customers and staff
  • Manage all scheduling, operations, budgeting, planning, and visual merchandising
  • Develop and ensure procedures are followed to protect the company’s inventory and assets as well as all activities related to risk management and safety
  • Balance operational responsibilities with a relentless focus on sales
