As a Shovel Operator Supervisor, you'll be responsible for leading a team of shovel operators, ensuring commercial properties are serviced safely, efficiently, and according to contract specifications. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires excellent communication, quick decision-making, and a commitment to safety and exceptional customer service.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Valid New York State Driver's License (clean driving record preferred)
Previous experience in snow removal, landscaping, or property maintenance preferred
Previous leadership or crew supervision experience is a plus
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work outdoors in cold, snowy, and icy conditions for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physically demanding work
Reliable transportation and the ability to respond promptly to snow events
Must be able to use a tablet for service documentation and communication
Dependable, self-motivated, and able to lead with professionalism and integrity

Responsibilities

Supervise and lead a team of shovel operators during snow and ice events.
Coordinate and assign routes to ensure all commercial properties are serviced efficiently and on time.
Monitor team performance and ensure work is completed according to company standards and contract requirements.
Perform snow and ice removal alongside your crew using shovels, snow blowers, and other snow removal equipment as needed.
Apply de-icing materials to sidewalks, walkways, stairs, ramps, and entrances.
Respond to snow dispatches within 30 minutes of being contacted.
Work early mornings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays during snow events.
Conduct pre-shift safety meetings and equipment inspections.
Ensure shovels and any other necessary snow removal equipment are maintained and ready for operation before and after every storm.
Maintain communication with management throughout each snow event and provide updates on route progress and any issues encountered.
Train, mentor, and support team members while promoting a positive, safety-focused work environment.
Ensure accurate service documentation using a smartphone and verify crew members complete required service logs.
Report equipment issues, property concerns, accidents, or incidents immediately.
Assist with grounds maintenance, property maintenance, or other seasonal duties as assigned.
Enforce all company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards.
