About The Position

The House of Commons Administration is seeking to fill the position of Short Order Cook within the House of Commons Parliamentary Precinct Operations. This role involves preparing and cooking a variety of foods that require short preparation times, including Daily Specials for Cafeterias. The cook will take customer orders, serve clients at food stations, and prepare customized orders according to standardized recipes and quantities as instructed by supervisors. This posting aims to fill the position on an indeterminate (permanent) basis and to establish a pool of candidates for future seasonal, on-call, and determinate opportunities. The hourly rate is $23.65 - $29.92. For seasonal and on-call roles, hours can range from 15 to 35 per week, with work periods typically from mid-September to mid-December and late January to late June, with interruptions during summer months and between parliamentary sessions.

Requirements

High school diploma OR an acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience.
Experience in short order preparation and fast cooking techniques in a restaurant or a cafeteria.
Experience interacting directly and regularly with clients.

Nice To Haves

Completion of a basic health and safety course and certification under the Food Safety Enhancement Program (FSEP).

Responsibilities
