About The Position

This role involves performing scaffolding duties related to truck loading, unloading, storage, and maintenance of yard materials. A key responsibility is sandblasting materials as needed. The position requires the ability to assess weights, judge distances and heights, and meticulously stage and load materials and equipment, ensuring accuracy in quantity and item type. The technician will be responsible for securely strapping and bracing loads onto flatbed trailers, as well as crating, banding, and shrink-wrapping materials for shipment. Maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the shoring yard property and work area is essential. Additionally, the role includes performing sandblasting on all equipment prior to shop maintenance or painting, and conducting minor maintenance on sandblast equipment. Coordination with the fabrication and welding shop foreman for material needs is also part of the job. The technician must adhere to all mandatory safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and be prepared to perform other assigned duties, potentially including mechanics and servicing, and may be temporarily assigned to other supervisors.

Requirements

Must be organized and detail oriented.
Must possess the ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Experience loading materials and equipment of different sizes and weights onto a flatbed trailer.
Ability to pass a respirator fitting test as required.

Nice To Haves

HS Diploma or equivalent
Construction or other outdoor labor experience
Ability to drive a forklift or learn.
Welding experience or desire to learn.
Valid Florida Driver’s License

Responsibilities

Load and unload trucks, store materials, and perform various assigned tasks.
Assess weights and judge distances and heights.
Stage and load materials and equipment, ensuring the exact number and correct items are loaded.
Strap and secure loads onto flatbed trailers.
Crate, band, and shrink wrap materials in preparation for shipping.
Organize and maintain the shoring yard property.
Perform sandblasting of all equipment before sending it to the shop for maintenance or painting.
Perform minor maintenance on sandblast equipment.
Coordinate with the fabrication and welding shop foreman when sandblasting materials or supplies are needed.
Maintain a clean work area.
Observe and follow all mandatory safety procedures, including the use of all personal protective equipment (PPE).
Perform other duties as assigned including but not limited to mechanics and servicing and be subject to temporary assignment with other supervisors.
