About The Position

This is a leadership role within our Shopify practice, focused on scaling capability, driving revenue, and delivering best-in-class commerce solutions. You’ll operate at the intersection of strategy, sales, and delivery, partnering with clients to architect transformation while building and mentoring high-performing teams. From shaping go-to-market strategy to overseeing complex program delivery, your impact will be both commercial and technical. You balance strategic leadership with a hands-on approach—engaging directly in key projects when needed to shape solutions, support teams, and maintain delivery excellence. As a Practice Director, you are accountable for the growth, positioning, and delivery excellence of our Shopify practice.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Practice Director, Principal Architect, or senior leadership role within digital commerce
  • Deep expertise in Shopify (Shopify Plus strongly preferred)
  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience driving revenue, leading pre-sales, and growing client accounts
  • Extensive client-facing experience, including C-level stakeholder engagement
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business value
  • Experience leading cross-functional, distributed teams in a consulting or agency environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Adobe Commerce or other enterprise commerce platforms
  • Background in composable commerce, headless, and cloud-native architectures
  • Integration experience with ERPs (SAP, D365, NetSuite) and middleware (Boomi, Celigo, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery models and ALM tools
  • Exposure to enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF)
  • Experience working with Digital Experience Platforms (Optimizely, AEM)

Responsibilities

  • Step in hands-on within projects when needed to guide architecture, unblock teams, and ensure the highest quality of delivery
  • Define and evolve our Shopify strategy, offerings, and differentiators
  • Drive revenue growth through new business development and account expansion
  • Act as an executive-level advisor to clients, aligning commerce solutions to business outcomes
  • Oversee solution architecture and delivery quality across engagements
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of architects and engineers
  • Partner cross-functionally with sales, account, and delivery leadership to scale our impact
  • Serve as the practice lead for Shopify, owning capability development, delivery standards, and overall growth
  • Act as a subject matter expert in Shopify, composable commerce, and headless architectures
  • Lead complex solution design across storefront, integrations, and enterprise systems
  • Drive sales and pre-sales efforts, including solutioning, estimates, and proposals
  • Identify and shape new business opportunities within existing and prospective clients
  • Ensure delivery excellence—guiding teams to deliver on time, on budget, and at high quality
  • Establish best practices across architecture, development, and DevOps
  • Mentor Solution Architects, Leads, and senior engineers to elevate practice capability
  • Build strong partnerships with Shopify and ecosystem partners
  • Contribute to thought leadership and market positioning, enhancing Valtech’s visibility in the commerce space
