The Shop Welder Tech 3 (Line Bore) performs complicated welding repairs, fabrication, and line boring on heavy equipment and components with minimal supervision, utilizing Holt, Caterpillar, and AWS Welding Procedures, Standards, and Codes. This role requires the ability to fabricate solely from blueprints and perform the removal and installation of most components on heavy equipment, including undercarriage. The incumbent must be able to operate line boring equipment proficiently. Daily practices include aligning with the company's mission and core business values, collaborating with key internal/external resources, and participating in ongoing self-development. Essential functions involve executing complicated repairs, fabrication, and welding on heavy equipment and components in a shop environment, conducting complicated carbon arc gouging, oxy/acetylene torch beveling, and welding with different processes. The role also includes accurately ordering parts using Holt computer systems, maintaining company equipment, tools, and work areas, and operating hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic tools proficiently. Preparing technical inspection and service reports, working outside of regularly scheduled hours as required, performing component removal and installation, and recommending innovative approaches are also key functions. The position involves consulting with supervisors on purchases, building relationships with outside organizations, vendors, and customers, aiding in coaching less experienced welders, and working safely at all times.
