About The Position

Our Brooklyn, New York location is looking for a proactive individual to join our team as Shop Technician. The Shop Technician plays a critical role in keeping our BK, NY shop, fleet, and field operations running smoothly and efficiently. Working closely with our shop team, you will be responsible for maintaining an organized and safe work environment, managing inventory, and executing essential repairs and routine maintenance on paint systems, facilities, trucks, and equipment. This dynamic position combines hands-on technical work—ranging from equipment diagnostics and facility upkeep to basic wood and steel fabrication—with operational responsibilities like opening and closing the shop, inspecting deliveries, and maintaining detailed digital records. You will also represent Colossal on-site by driving company vehicles to customer job sites, supporting minor field repairs, and assisting the operations team.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A current and valid driver’s license.
  • Successful completion of OSHA 30 hour Construction course.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in one or more of the following fields: construction, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanic, maintenance.

  • Fluent in spoken and written English, with solid documentation habits (written logs and photos) and basic proficiency in computers, smartphones, Google Apps, and Slack.
  • Working knowledge of basic construction techniques, practical math, and wood/steel fabrication methods.
  • Proficient and safe operation of hand/power tools, machinery, and equipment for maintenance and outdoor job sites.
  • Comfortability working and climbing at heights, using/transporting ladders, and hauling tools.
  • Strict adherence to Colossal safety standards, as well as full compliance with DOT and OSHA regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous auto or lift mechanic experience.
  • Previous experience working from suspended scaffolds.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Shop Managers in maintaining cleanliness and organization of the shop, storage areas, walls, and trucks.
  • Support Shop Managers with inventory management of all paint supplies, ensuring proper processes are followed, and accurately diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing paint systems efficiently and with attention to quality.
  • Aid Shop Managers in training new hires in basic shop skills when applicable.
  • Responsible for opening and closing the shop as scheduled.
  • Professionally and confidently represent Colossal in all interactions.
  • Be available on-site or on-call during designated work hours, which may include nights and weekends.
  • Accurately document all work performed, including service logs, daily progress reports, inventory tracking, and shipping documentation.
  • Drive company vehicles to customer job sites within the designated region on a daily basis.
  • Assist with minor maintenance and repair tasks on grounds and facilities, including electrical work, carpentry, HVAC maintenance, and masonry repairs.
  • Support minor repairs on trucks, lifts, machinery, and equipment, including oil changes, lubrication, fluid refills, tire inspections, structural adjustments, and brake maintenance.
  • Contribute to minor electrical repairs and installations in the field as needed.
  • Assist with wood and steel fabrication projects.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records within the shop’s system.
  • Perform routine inspections of equipment and machinery to ensure production quality is upheld.
  • Inspect and count deliveries and stock upon arrival, checking for damage or missing items.
