About The Position

The primary function of this position is to perform advanced systems repair and assembly by performing independent troubleshooting using various diagnostic equipment and manuals. This role involves checking equipment and supplies, complying with PPE requirements, and preparing for duties. The technician will use manuals, repair manuals, parts manuals, and parts diagrams to troubleshoot and repair construction equipment. They will also utilize lift trucks, overhead cranes, and other aids for moving parts, and use hand and power tools for removal, installation, rebuilding, repair, and testing of equipment components. The position requires referencing parts, obtaining information, and entering data into record systems using miscellaneous resources and computers. Disassembly, reassembly, cleaning of parts, and testing with diagnostic equipment are also key functions. The technician will need to access all parts of vehicles by climbing onto, under, and into them. They will use overhead hoists, lift devices, and forklifts to move items off vehicles for repair and reassembly. Proficiency in inspections, preventative maintenance, and repair of engines, power trains, hydraulic, and electrical components is essential. The role also includes reprogramming equipment controllers using instruments and computers.

Requirements

  • High school education or GED.
  • Four years of work experience.
  • At least two years of experience with CAT equipment.
  • Proficiency in at least two mechanical systems (e.g., transmissions, engines, hydraulics) for numerous model lines.
  • Ability to daily and repeatedly stoop, kneel, bend, and climb beside, onto, and underneath various equipment.
  • Ability to effectively see to perform repairs, research technical manuals, and develop written repair work order reports.
  • Ability to routinely and physically lift/position various parts and manually handle parts up to 112 pounds.
  • Ability to use mechanical hoist for heavier parts.
  • Ability to effectively write repair activities on customer work orders.
  • Cognitive reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to apply knowledge, written information, and verbal instructions in repairing/servicing technical equipment operational problems.
  • Exposure to P.C. base equipment and parts information.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Repair engines, power trains, hydraulic, and electrical components.
  • Use power washers and spray paint equipment to clean and paint vehicles.
