About The Position

The Shop Technician performs essential job functions including abrading metal surfaces, masking parts, examining blasted parts for conformance to process requirements, servicing and maintaining machinery, following instructions per traveler, loading and unloading ovens, setting up and operating blast booth or similar equipment, and maintaining records and logs. The role requires competence in job knowledge, integrity, communication, quality, cooperation, quantity, teamwork, and the use of technology. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Abrade metal surfaces to remove light scale and impart a surface finish sufficient for parts to receive coating.
  • Mask specified areas of parts to protect from abrading prior to coating.
  • Examine blasted parts to ensure conformance to process requirements.
  • Service and maintain machinery in accordance with company and manufacturers' procedures.
  • Follow instructions per traveler.
  • Load and unload the ovens.
  • Set up and operate a blast booth or similar equipment.
  • Maintains records and logs as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
