About The Position

Performs repair/overhaul work for the component wheel/brake shop. Repairs and overhauls components and accessories in accordance with FAA and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) repair procedures and policies, ensuring conformance to prescribed standards and tolerances. Carries out diagnostic, repair, and overhaul tasks with technicians and specialists, observing approved procedures. Assists specialists in technically complex repairs. Follows appropriate manual references and utilizes proper tools, focusing on wheel, landing gear, and brake repairs. Follows the production schedule and works with the shop Lead and Production Maintenance Supervisor to address any behind-schedule conditions. Adheres to work orders and repair orders, ensuring all documentation is completed, and assists in maintaining records and technical data required by the FAA. Monitors and tracks parts shortages, supporting the ordering of materials to alleviate these conditions. Briefs Lead or Production Maintenance Supervisor on repairs for quotations. Creates purchase requisitions for necessary parts and tooling. Communicates any tooling requirements to the Lead or Production Maintenance Supervisor. Communication via email, telephone, and in person may be required. Works with the Lead to schedule any third-party vendor tasks or services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/ GED
  • 2-4 years of experience with wheel / brake / landing gear repair or overhaul
  • FAA repair station experience or component shop experience
  • Mechanical aptitude and abilities
  • Knowledge of shop equipment, hand tools (pneumatic & manual)
  • Knowledge of Component Maintenance Manuals
  • Blueprint reading
  • Forklift, pallet jack
  • Knowledge of Hydraulic & mechanical systems
  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including, OSHA, EPA, State and Federal regulations.
  • Ability to wear a respirator as per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 "Respirator Protection" regulations with no restrictions that would prevent the proper use and/or seal of the respirator.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and different shifts if required
  • Employees will be subject to the random drug and alcohol testing under FAA regulations

Nice To Haves

  • A & P license preferred
  • Relevant experience or repairman certificate may substitute for A & P license.
