About The Position

This position involves performing repair and overhaul work for the component wheel/brake shop. The technician will carry out diagnostic, repair, and overhaul tasks on components and accessories, primarily focusing on wheel, landing gear, and brake repairs. All work must be conducted in accordance with FAA and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) repair procedures and policies, ensuring conformance to prescribed standards and tolerances. The role requires adherence to production schedules, collaboration with the shop Lead and Production Maintenance Supervisor, and meticulous documentation of work orders and repair orders. The technician will also monitor parts shortages, support material ordering, brief supervisors on repairs for quotations, and create purchase requisitions for parts and tooling.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/ GED
  • 2-4 years of experience with wheel / brake / landing gear repair or overhaul
  • FAA repair station experience or component shop experience
  • Mechanical aptitude and abilities
  • Proficiency with shop equipment and hand tools (pneumatic & manual)
  • Ability to read Component Maintenance Manuals and blueprints
  • Experience with Forklift and pallet jack operation
  • Knowledge of Hydraulic & mechanical systems
  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including, OSHA, EPA, State and Federal regulations.
  • Ability to wear a respirator as per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 "Respirator Protection" regulations with no restrictions that would prevent the proper use and/or seal of the respirator.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs and overhauls components and accessories in accordance with FAA and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) repair procedures and policies, ensuring conformance to prescribed standards and tolerances.
  • Carries out diagnostic, repair and overhaul tasks along with technicians and specialists, observing approved and prescribed procedures.
  • Personally carries out or assists specialists in carrying out technically complex repairs.
  • Follows appropriate manual references and utilizes proper tools in performing repair duties, mainly focused on wheel, landing gear and brake repairs.
  • Follows production schedule; works with the shop Lead and Production Maintenance Supervisor to implement ways to remedy behind schedule conditions.
  • Follows work orders and repair orders to see that all documentation has been completed; assists in the maintenance records and technical data required by the FAA.
  • Monitors and tracks parts shortages, supports the ordering of materials to alleviate shortage conditions.
  • Briefs Lead or Production Maintenance Supervisor concerning repairs for quotations.
  • Creates purchase requisitions for parts and tooling required.
  • Communicates any tooling requirements that may be needed to Lead or Production Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Communicates via e-mail, telephone, and in person as required.
  • Works with Lead to schedule any third party vendor tasks or services.
