The Bakersfield, CA team accepts applications year-round for our Shop Technician roles. Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required
  • Experience performing service repairs and consistently meeting performance metrics.
  • Experience with repairs and maintenance using special tools and Technical Manual procedures, particularly on specialized machines.
  • Ability to perform complex repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following technical manual procedures.
  • Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in off-road, construction, or heavy equipment.
  • Experience operating vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostics.
  • Basic computer skills; experience with Service ADVISOR™ or similar diagnostic tools preferred.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Possession of toolset in alignment with the company’s requirements of the role. Tool checklist will be completed in the interviewing process.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced or Master Service Technician certifications and degree in Diesel Repairs, Heavy Equipment Technology, or related field.
  • Previous experience working on the John Deere line and competitive products.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on John Deere equipment and technology, both in the shop and in the field.
  • Perform tasks in accordance with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure complete and thorough documentation of diagnostics and repairs, and timely submission of information.
  • Participate in Service Training programs for skill and knowledge development.
  • Operate and maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Stay updated on John Deere and competitive products.
