About The Position

The Shop Service Technician II - Heavy Equipment is responsible for conducting all assigned work in a safe manner, adhering to all applicable safety, environmental, and contamination control policies, procedures, and regulations. This role requires attending and completing required technician training, maintaining a necessary set of tools for diagnosing, disassembling, and assembling components to manufacturer's specifications, and performing designated repairs on customer or company-owned equipment. The technician will troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, work in a neat and orderly fashion, and inspect components to control repair costs. Documentation of repairs and job expenses is crucial, along with monitoring costs against estimates and informing supervisors of any overruns. The role also involves contributing to team efforts, training and mentoring others, and performing other duties as assigned. Essential job competencies include safety, job-specific skills, communication, information gathering, initiative, results orientation, fiscal accountability, adaptability, credibility, and personal development.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 3-4 years of experience
  • Completed all required training curriculum to be designated a Tech II.
  • Able to easily and effectively comprehend written material and communicate orally and in writing with employees and customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in the use of a computer, Microsoft Office products and relevant Dealer software programs.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts all assigned work in a safe manner, adhering to all applicable safety, environmental and contamination control policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Wears proper personal protective equipment.
  • Attends and successfully completes required technician training classes.
  • Maintains high awareness of applicable technical changes in the industry.
  • Maintains necessary set of tools required for job performance to diagnose, disassemble and assemble components to manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Diagnose and perform designated repairs on customer or company owned equipment including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs
  • Works in a neat and orderly fashion, constantly looking for ways of improving the methods of work, work area, and safety standards.
  • Inspects components to ensure maximum parts are being reused to control repair costs.
  • Completes required documentation utilizing appropriate software to document repairs performed on equipment, and accounting for repair times.
  • Monitors job expenses versus repair estimates and ensures that the supervisor is aware of any cost over run, prior to the job being completed.
  • Approaches work in a positive manner and maintains conduct that is supportive of the work Team.
  • Contributes to Team efforts by accomplishing tasks on time while maintaining safety and quality expectations.
  • Trains and/or mentors others in department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
