The Shop Service Technician I is responsible for conducting all assigned work in a safe manner, adhering to all applicable safety, environmental, and contamination control policies, procedures, and regulations. This role involves wearing proper personal protective equipment, attending and completing required technician training, and maintaining a necessary set of tools for diagnosing, disassembling, and assembling components to manufacturer specifications. The technician will diagnose and perform repairs on customer or company-owned equipment, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting. They will work in a neat and orderly fashion, seeking continuous improvement in work methods, the work area, and safety standards. The role also includes inspecting components to maximize parts reuse for cost control, completing documentation using appropriate software, monitoring job expenses against estimates, and communicating any potential cost overruns to the supervisor. A positive approach, supportive conduct, and contribution to team efforts are expected, along with training and mentoring others, and temporarily assuming supervisor responsibilities as needed.
