About The Position

HOLT CAT in Irving, Texas is looking for a heavy construction equipment Shop Service Tech 3 for the component rebuild center. This mechanic position is responsible for performing inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of diesel-powered heavy equipment and/or related equipment or components, following established procedures and guidelines. The mechanic should be able to work independently or as a member of a team to provide mechanical services that satisfies customer needs and achieves departmental goals.

Requirements

Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
Demonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems (CAT ET & CAT SIS experience is preferred).
Quality control analysis skills - Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance and communicate findings
Operation and control skills - Controlling operations of equipment or systems
Equipment selection skills - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
Ability to operate a conventional forklift and an overhead crane
The ability to quickly and repeatedly operate the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions
Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair
The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
The ability to read, write, and understand information
The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
Must have/acquire basic mechanic hand and pneumatic tools (metric/standard)
Four or more years of diesel-powered heavy equipment repair experience preferred
Ability and knowledge to read/use schematics and diagrams experience is preferred
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Graduation from a diesel technology program preferred

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of heavy equipment machines such as dozers, excavators, motor graders, and other dirt moving equipent preferred
CAT ET & CAT SIS experience is preferred
Ability and knowledge to read/use schematics and diagrams experience is preferred
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Graduation from a diesel technology program preferred

Responsibilities

Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and failures
Disassembles and assembles of machine components to manufacturer’s specifications through the use of hand tools, pneumatic tools, and any specialized tooling
Rebuilds, repairs, reconditions, and maintains equipment and components
Demonstrates good customer relations and support; communicates customer needs to shop management
The Technician must be able to plan and controls cost of repair jobs
The Technician must be able to document all work performed electronically
The Technician must be able to practice all safety protocols and follow company safety guidelines
The Technician must be able to order parts online and identifies parts for return
Mentors and helps train other technicians
Maintains all equipment and work areas – keeps in good, clean, and orderly condition
Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; e.g., ProTech Technician Training Paths
Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
Performs other duties as assigned
