About The Position

This Millwright role assembles and repairs equipment and machinery for John H. Carter Co., Inc. / ControlWorx, LLC (JHC/CWX) Process Pumps & Equipment. Work may involve assembling, removing, repairing, transferring, and installing petrochemical rotating equipment, including pumps, blowers, agitators, and compressors. Activities may take place at the Geismar equipment repair facility and/or customer sites, mostly within 100 miles. The incumbent is expected to understand the needs and goals of the repair facility and its customers, build effective working relationships with internal and external personnel, and deliver quality service.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of hands-on experience in maintenance, repair, and/or assembly of typical petrochemical rotating equipment; candidates with less experience may be considered depending on their background and demonstrated knowledge.
• In-depth, hands-on knowledge of petrochemical rotating equipment, including pumps, blowers, agitators, and compressors.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and potentially manage multiple projects with little oversight.
• Ability and willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed, and to work on-call and off shift as required.
• Strong relationship-building skills and a positive, customer-service-oriented attitude.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree, NCCER certification, or trade school training in a craft.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, inspect, diagnose, and repair petrochemical rotating equipment such as pumps, blowers, agitators, and compressors, at customer sites or in the Geismar repair facility.
• Assemble new rotating equipment for shipment, including precision equipment assembly, coupling and motor installation, equipment alignment, and guarding installation.
• Perform field work that may include removing or replacing rotating equipment, replacing baseplates, replacing packing or mechanical seals, and precision alignment.
• Document the work scope for shop and field activities, including all critical dimensions on appropriate as-found and as-left forms.
• Potentially manage multiple projects with little oversight and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Work overtime, weekends, on-call, and off shift as required by customers or management.
• Establish strong relationships with customers and fellow employees, maintain a customer-service attitude, and remain positive in interactions.
