Shop Manager - Manufacturing Operations
About The Position
TMD Staffing is looking to hire a Shop Manager in the Baltimore MD area for a Full-Time Opportunity. This role involves managing daily shop operations, production schedules, and workflow priorities, while leading and supporting machinists, fabricators, technicians, and production employees. The Shop Manager will plan and coordinate manufacturing activities to meet customer deadlines, review job requirements, drawings, and production specifications, and support CNC machining operations including setup, programming, troubleshooting, and process improvements. The position also oversees fabrication, assembly, tooling, and prototype production activities, ensuring products meet quality standards and customer specifications. Responsibilities include troubleshooting manufacturing issues, collaborating with engineering and design teams on new products and production improvements, training employees, promoting continuous improvement practices, and assisting with equipment maintenance and process optimization.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing, machining or production environment
- Previous experience as a Shop Manager, Manufacturing Supervisor, Production Manager or Shop Lead
- Strong CNC machining knowledge and experience
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Experience managing production teams in a hands-on environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with precision manufacturing processes
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet production deadlines
