About The Position

Perform auto body repair, surface preparation, refinishing, and painting of mining equipment and related projects. Perform maintenance and reconditioning activities as assigned. Recondition equipment through surface preparation and painting activities, including blasting, grinding, sanding, smoothing surfaces, and other paint preparation using hand and power tools. Apply primers and paint using spray equipment. Perform cab reconditioning, including ordering necessary parts, disassembling and reassembling components, and completing related repair and refurbishment work. Remove, install, and repair equipment cab glass while maintaining Falkirk's glass inventory. Dismantle and assemble equipment using hoists, hand tools, and other required equipment. Assist mechanics, welders, and service personnel with maintenance and repair tasks as needed. Maintain shop areas, equipment, and tools in a safe, clean, and organized condition. Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures and State and Federal environmental regulations. Perform a variety of duties at the surface coal mine based on operational needs, including work on rotating shifts. Complete preventive maintenance inspections and other equipment maintenance tasks as assigned. Perform building maintenance activities, including cleaning, painting, and general repair or reconditioning work as needed. Operate equipment to diagnose problems and verify repairs. Operate light vehicles to travel throughout the mine site. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience in auto body repair, equipment painting, industrial painting, or a related skilled trade.
  • Working knowledge of paints, coatings, chemicals, equipment, machines, and tools used in auto body repair and painting operations.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work safely and comply with all company policies, MSHA regulations, and safety requirements while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including a respirator, face shield, hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, and other protective gear as required.
  • Must successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and the applicable Job Function Test (JFT).

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Auto Body, Industrial Painting, Diesel Technology, or a related field.
  • Prior equipment painting or heavy equipment refinishing experience.
  • Experience with surface preparation, blasting, sanding, priming, and spray-painting equipment.
