About The Position

This role is for an experienced individual in a full-time, 2nd shift position within Manufacturing. The Shop Lead will be responsible for maintaining employee relations, collaborating with other managers and supervisors, and ensuring operators meet quality expectations. Key duties include leading daily work activities based on the production schedule, focusing on safety, organizing and planning for efficient production flow, and managing manpower requirements. The role also involves training new and existing employees, ensuring good housekeeping, communicating effectively via email and written means, opening the shop as needed, scheduling 2nd shift work, ensuring equipment functionality, reporting maintenance issues, providing necessary tools and resources to employees, and setting performance targets.

Requirements

  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
  • Ability to read tape measure accurately.
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.
  • Basic computer skills required (Microsoft Office)

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years industrial experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain employee relations, work with other managers and supervisors.
  • Ensures operators understand and meet all quality expectations for their specific job.
  • Work from production schedule and lead people in daily work activities.
  • Focus on safety issues throughout the shop, work with manager on safety issues and conduct safety audits when needed, train new employees in safety procedures in their work area.
  • Organizing and planning, make efficient use of time and schedule product flow.
  • Scheduling: Manpower requirements, effective planning of lead time and maintenance to insure completion of production schedule.
  • Be able to train operators and instruct employees in daily work activities.
  • Ensure housekeeping is maintained.
  • Communicate via email as well as written.
  • Open shop as needed and help schedule 2nd shift work.
  • Ensure that all equipment is functioning properly.
  • Reports maintenance issues accurately using current maintenance management system.
  • Ensure that employees have tools and resources necessary to be successful.
  • Set hourly/daily performance targets and hold operators responsible for meeting those targets.
  • Directly supervise employees and work directly with management.
  • Carry out daily operations in production when manager is not available.
  • Train employees, plan, assign, and direct work.
  • Follow all safety and healthy policies and procedures issued by the company.
