About The Position

Shop Laborer is responsible for shipping and receiving outgoing and incoming products related to customer orders and internal requests for parts and equipment. They are responsible for accurately receiving and picking orders, labelling, invoicing, inventory control, and shrink-wrapping skids, and all other general duties. While this position includes core shipping and receiving responsibilities, it also offers the opportunity to be involved in a broader range of hands-on operational activities within our facility.

  • Shop environment orientation (exits, fire extinguishers, first aid & eyewash stations, spill kits, propane storage) and yard environment (building locations, processes)
  • Squatting, bending, reaching, and walking (further details to be reviewed on JHA)
  • PPE training for possible noise exposure, mists/vapors, gloves, safety glasses and steel toed boots
  • New hire / employee HSE orientation
  • Material Handling procedure NQI-1022 training
  • Forklift/Crane training if required
  • WHMIS training
  • Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Training (completed in-house)
  • HSE Orientation (completed in-house)
  • Forklift Training (completed in-house)
  • Lifting and Rigging Training (completed in-house)

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift & Crane certification is considered an asset
  • Knowledge and experience with warehousing and industrial equipment an asset
  • Mechanical aptitude or interest in equipment and repair work is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Arrange for trucking or shipping/receiving services
  • Prepare records of goods shipped and received
  • Use ORACLE and NEXUS to record parts shipped and received and look up purchase orders and part locations
  • Exercise a sense of time, organization and urgency
  • Ensure orders are correct and ready to be packed/shipped
  • Work with others to ensure products are received and shipped in a timely and efficient manner
  • Inspect and verify outgoing and incoming goods against invoices or other documents
  • Operate forklift and/or loader to load, unload, transport and store goods
  • Conduct daily forklift/loader walk around fill-in checklist
  • On-call basis for rotational weekends and/or evenings where might be required to work alone
  • Be able to work in all-weather yard and shop working environments
  • Disassemble returned equipment and inspect and record damages
  • Occasionally working from heights using a ladder
  • Assist with pump repair and basic equipment maintenance
  • Support parts assembly and preparation between shipments
  • Perform high-pressure hose inspection and re-certification
  • Assist technician with day-to-day operational tasks
  • Maintain warehouse organization, cleanliness, and safety standards
  • Other duties as assigned
