Schedules weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual preventive maintenance. Properly annotates all maintenance performed on prescribed forms and enters data into TMT and other data collection systems (Planner). Manages the shop facility in a safe, efficient, timely, cost effective and practical manner and in compliance with OSHA regulations and company polices. Ensure and enforce all established safety policies and standards to include identification, use, and proper procedures for handling or disposal of hazardous wastes. Follow and reinforce with others all safety processes and protocols. Manage and maintain inventory of parts, tools, specialized test equipment and consumables. Schedule and supervise mechanics to meet terminal maintenance requirements within budget. Perform additional duties as assigned by the AMM. Education High school diploma or completion of G.E.D. required. Plus course work in auto and equipment mechanics at a trade school and six (6) years of experience as a mechanic, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. (Must be able to provide documentation). Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities (Competencies) Must Possess at least 2+ years in a Shop leadership position Must possess at least 5+ years' industry experience in fleet maintenance Knowledge is mandatory of vehicle and equipment theory, principles and repair relating to diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. Thorough knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules and regulations, company policies and procedures. Competent computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Excel and Word and other web-based applications. Ability to use vehicle diagnostic software. Proficient in the use and completion of repair and purchase orders produced by a maintenance management system. Minimum special knowledge and skills required: 2-3 years as a fleet maintenance supervisor preferred. DOT HM-183 training required. ASE certification not required but highly recommended. Welding experience a Plus; Mig, Tig, Plasma, etc. Minimum special knowledge and skills required: Up to 3 years as a fleet mechanic preferred. DOT HM-183 training certified required. ASE certification not required but recommended. Supervisory Responsibility: Training for annual/systematic inspections, HM-183, TMT, Mechanics Work Station, TINA Edit, RMS, Workflow, PO System, Coupa, and other company processes and procedures provided by RFM. Government regulations and company policies readily available. Prioritizing repairs and projects for technicians. Be able to decide if repairs can be performed in-house or if work must be sent to an outside vendor. Ensure all tractor and trailer inspections and maintenance complies with Federal FHWA standards. Use economical, reliable and up-to-date procedures to maintain vehicles in a safe and serviceable condition throughout their lifecycle.
