About The Position

Group1 Porsche Westwood is seeking an experienced, technically accomplished, and highly organized Shop Foreman to lead the daily operation of our service workshop. This is a leadership position for an individual who combines exceptional automotive diagnostic and repair knowledge with strong organizational, communication, and team leadership skills. The Shop Foreman serves as a key operational and technical leader within the workshop and acts as a bridge between technicians, service leadership, advisors, parts, warranty administration, the manufacturer, and Group-level resources. This individual is expected to lead by example, maintain an exceptionally high standard of workmanship and organization, and actively contribute to the continued development and efficiency of the Porsche Westwood service operation.

Requirements

Experienced automotive technician with significant diagnostic and repair experience.
Strong Porsche product knowledge and familiarity with Porsche diagnostic and repair procedures.
Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting ability.
Strong understanding of modern vehicle electrical, electronic, mechanical, and computer-controlled systems.
Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex and intermittent vehicle concerns.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Working knowledge of CDK, Xtime, and dealership service technology.
Ability to understand and enforce repair-order and warranty documentation requirements.

ASE certifications, Porsche technical certifications, advanced diagnostic training, and prior leadership or foreman experience are highly valued.

Responsibilities

Orchestrate the day-to-day operation of the service workshop to ensure technicians, equipment, work orders, and repair priorities are aligned with the needs of the business.
Act as the primary operational leader within the shop and provide direction, organization, and support to the technician team throughout the day.
Monitor daily workflow, technician capacity, repair complexity, promised times, and workload to ensure the shop is operating efficiently.
Take an active role in work-order dispatch, repair mix, technician assignments, and prioritization of work based on technician skill level, workload, equipment requirements, and customer commitments.
Identify workflow bottlenecks and proactively implement solutions to improve technician productivity, throughput, quality, and overall shop efficiency.
Work closely with Service Management and Advisors to ensure repair priorities and shop capacity are properly communicated and coordinated.
Maintain awareness of overall shop performance and provide leadership with feedback regarding staffing, workflow, equipment, training, process, and operational needs.
Serve as a senior technical resource and key diagnostic authority within the workshop.
Utilize extensive technical knowledge, manufacturer resources, diagnostic equipment, and Porsche-specific systems to assist technicians with difficult or complex repairs.
Take the lead on complex diagnostic procedures and repairs when the needs of the workload require additional technical expertise.
Serve as a primary escalation point for difficult-to-diagnose vehicle concerns and assist technicians in developing effective diagnostic and repair strategies.
Utilize elevated manufacturer and Group resources, technical support channels, diagnostic systems, and other available resources to resolve complex vehicle concerns.
Serve as a key point of contact for manufacturer escalation tickets and technical cases, ensuring appropriate documentation, follow-up, and resolution.
Assist technicians in navigating difficult repairs while encouraging proper diagnostic methodology rather than simply providing answers.
Maintain a high level of current knowledge regarding Porsche vehicles, technologies, diagnostic procedures, technical information, and repair standards.
Maintain a strong presence on the shop floor and regularly work directly with technicians in their bays.
Provide hands-on assistance, guidance, coaching, and second opinions when technicians encounter challenging repairs or diagnostic concerns.
Serve as a readily accessible technical resource for the technician team throughout the workday.
Help technicians interpret technical information, repair procedures, warranty requirements, documentation standards, and manufacturer policies.
Foster an environment where technicians are comfortable seeking assistance, collaborating on difficult repairs, and sharing knowledge with one another.
Lead by example through professionalism, technical competency, organization, cleanliness, and adherence to Porsche and Group standards.
Encourage teamwork and cooperation across the entire workshop rather than operating as an isolated technical resource.
Identify opportunities for technician development and communicate training or resource needs to Service Management.
Help establish and reinforce consistent repair and documentation practices across the technician team.
Serve as the final quality-control checkpoint for the majority of vehicles completed within the facility.
Review completed repairs for quality, accuracy, completeness, and adherence to manufacturer repair standards.
Perform or coordinate road tests and other appropriate quality-control procedures when required.
Verify that repairs have been completed correctly and that vehicles are ready for customer delivery before they leave the workshop.
Identify incomplete, improperly documented, or questionable repairs and ensure they are addressed before vehicle release.
Help reduce comebacks by maintaining a proactive quality-control process and identifying recurring issues or process failures.
Ensure technicians are following applicable Porsche, Group, dealership, warranty, and safety procedures.
Ensure technicians maintain accurate and complete repair documentation consistent with Porsche and Group 1 Automotive requirements.
Monitor technician adherence to warranty documentation requirements, including required diagnostic information, test results, measurements, photographs, supporting documentation, and other required evidence.
Assist technicians with warranty-related questions and documentation requirements.
Identify documentation deficiencies before repair orders are finalized whenever possible.
Support Service Management and Warranty Administration with technical clarification and documentation when warranty claims or manufacturer questions arise.
Help ensure repair orders accurately reflect the work performed and the diagnostic process used to reach the repair conclusion.
Maintain a strong working knowledge of CDK, Xtime, and other dealership systems used throughout the service operation.
Utilize dealership technology to improve workflow, communication, documentation, dispatch, repair tracking, and overall shop efficiency.
Identify opportunities to streamline existing processes and reduce unnecessary administrative work for technicians and management.
Assist with the development and implementation of improved digital and operational workflows.
Serve as a knowledgeable resource for technicians and leadership when questions arise regarding system functionality or shop-related processes.
Identify recurring system or process inefficiencies and work with appropriate departments to develop practical solutions.
Help ensure that technology is being used as an operational tool rather than simply as a required administrative process.
Maintain overall accountability for the cleanliness, organization, and professional appearance of the workshop and its surrounding areas.
Establish and reinforce expected standards for cleanliness and organization throughout technician work areas.
Ensure technicians properly maintain their bays, tools, equipment, lifts, and shared workspaces.
Monitor shop equipment and machinery for maintenance or repair needs and ensure issues are properly communicated and routed to the appropriate department.
Ensure appropriate supplies, shop equipment, and special tools are available and properly maintained.
Monitor special-tool inventory and identify shortages, damaged equipment, or additional tooling requirements.
Promote proper storage and organization of Porsche special tools and shop equipment.
Ensure the shop remains compliant with applicable safety, housekeeping, environmental, and company standards.
Serve as the role model for organization, cleanliness, tool management, and professional workshop practices.
Hold technicians accountable to established dealership, Group 1 Automotive, Porsche, safety, repair, documentation, and cleanliness standards.
Address process or performance concerns promptly and professionally and communicate significant issues to Service Management.
Maintain a positive, professional, and team-oriented culture within the workshop.
Balance accountability with coaching and development, recognizing that the goal is to build a stronger and more capable technician team.
Communicate effectively with Service Management, Service Advisors, Parts, Warranty Administration, and other dealership departments.
Represent Porsche Westwood professionally when interacting with customers, manufacturer representatives, technical support personnel, vendors, and Group leadership.
Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling operational, personnel, technical, or customer-related matters.
