About The Position

The Shop Assistant works closely with the Operations Manager(s) and Shop Supervisor to ensure all company assets are maintained in accordance with Mainstream Commercial Divers and regulatory agency standards. This is a part-time position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of essential shop equipment and basic shop environment knowledge
  • Must have verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively and professionally with internal and external clients.
  • Ability to work with a team and independently.
  • Ability to proactively identify issues and offer solutions.
  • Ability to lift 25-50 lbs. Must be able to stand the following for up to 8-12 hours per day in all weather conditions (Sun, Rain, Sleet, and Snow): stand, walk, push, pull, squat, crouch, bend, stoop, crawl, kneel, climb stairs and ladders; repetitive reaching, repetitive hand use.
  • Ability to meet DOT or HAZMAT Physical additional fitness ability requirements for the position you are filling.
  • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
  • Travel to project sites and regional offices, approximately 25%. Including, but not limited to, Murray, KY.
  • Qualified candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. The company will not provide a work visa or relocation for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational or technical certificate in diesel or automotive repair
  • 2+ years of experience with diving systems
  • Previous Maritime experience
  • Familiarity with computers and MS Office Suite

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of all equipment.
  • Must be able to perform and complete, without fault, all Essential Functions required of an entry-level mechanic after provided training.
  • Loading/unloading equipment to and from jobs.
  • Understands essential shop equipment and basic shop environment knowledge, above and beyond hand tools after provided training.
  • Follows instructions given by supervisory personnel.
  • Performs work independently and assists other employees as directed.
  • Must participate in all company-provided training.
  • Must actively stay up to date on working knowledge of industry requirements for equipment.
  • Operates and inspects equipment to diagnose problems and defects, and to inspect after repairs.
  • Maintains upkeep of work area, materials, and tools.
  • Confirms and tracks required maintenance of life-support equipment, including assisting with audits.
  • Troubleshoot and repair: Diesel and gas engines, Hydraulics (new builds), Electrical (AC and DC motors, control circuits, low voltage electronics), Quincy Air Compressors, Pneumatic and hydraulic tools, Plumbing, Fittings.
