About The Position

At Banner Fire Equipment, we’ve supported firefighters across the Midwest for over 40 years with trusted fire and rescue apparatus, gear, and tools. Built on strong relationships and performance, we are committed to equipping first responders to protect lives and communities. We're looking for a dependable, hardworking Shop Assistant/Groundskeeper to help keep our shop running safely, efficiently, and organized. This position plays an essential role in supporting our Service team by maintaining the shop and facility, assisting with inventory and logistics, and providing hands-on support to our technicians. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Strong work ethic with a positive, team-first attitude
  • Ability to safely lift, move, and handle equipment and materials
  • Comfortable working in a shop environment and outdoors in heat
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks

Nice To Haves

  • Previous shop, warehouse, maintenance, automotive, or industrial experience is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop, warehouse, and work environment
  • Perform facility upkeep, housekeeping, light maintenance, trash removal, and grounds maintenance, including mowing and weed eating/pulling
  • Detail and wash company vehicles, customer vehicles, and fire apparatus
  • Assist with organizing stock, and maintaining inventory, parts, tools, and shop supplies
  • Safely move equipment, parts, and vehicles throughout the facility
  • Prepare equipment and materials for technicians and upcoming service work
  • Assist technicians with staging equipment, preventative maintenance, equipment testing, and general shop tasks as needed
  • Operate hand tools and shop equipment safely and responsibly
  • Follow all company safety procedures and help maintain a safe work environment
  • Perform general shop, warehouse, and logistics duties as needed to support daily operations
