About The Position
The priority of a Shop Apprentice is to come to work with a willingness to learn. Learn by first listening, then doing. At the direction of the Production Manager, the Shop Apprentice will be expected to learn essential methods and standards for the different departments within the shop; therefore, ultimately understanding the manufacturing process from start to finish and the standards of quality and safety that we uphold. Hours: 6am - 4:30pm Monday through Thursday.
Requirements
- Must pass pre-employment physical / musculoskeletal exam
- Must pass drug screening
- Must pass an audiogram test
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a daily basis
- Regularly required to talk and listen.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, as well as reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to see and differentiate color and to focus.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read and use a tape measure.
- Capability to safely maneuver and control manual transmission (stick-shift) trucks under various conditions
- Strong communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Understand how to read and comprehend drawings and cut sheets.
- Understand the different means and methods of the different departments.
- Use safe practices; learn how to use machines and tools in a safe manner.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers and managers.
