About The Position

Accurate Marine Environmental (AME) is seeking a motivated, safety-focused, and dependable Safety Technician to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to build a career in occupational safety while supporting marine, industrial, and shipyard operations. Working alongside experienced safety professionals, you'll play an important role in promoting safe work practices, assisting with regulatory compliance, and helping protect our employees, customers, and job sites. As a Safety Technician, you will support the implementation of AME's safety and health programs during vessel, shipyard, and industrial operations. Under the direction of the Safety Supervisor and Safety & Health Manager, you'll assist with field safety oversight, monitor compliance with company policies and customer requirements, conduct routine inspections, and help identify and communicate workplace hazards. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in the field, values teamwork, and is passionate about creating a safe work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid REAL ID-compliant driver's license.
  • Ability to pass company driving record requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DBIDS and TWIC credentials.
  • Basic knowledge of workplace safety practices and PPE requirements.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to recognize and report unsafe conditions.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding industrial environments.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour Certification.
  • HAZWOPER Certification.
  • Confined Space Entry Training.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Experience working in shipyards, aboard vessels, or industrial facilities.
  • Familiarity with hazardous waste handling and RCRA regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Support field safety activities during shipyard, vessel, and industrial operations.
  • Monitor employees and subcontractors for compliance with PPE requirements and safe work practices.
  • Conduct routine safety observations and report unsafe conditions or behaviors.
  • Assist in maintaining clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas.
  • Help enforce company safety policies and customer safety requirements.
  • Assist with monitoring high-risk work activities, including: Confined Space Entry, Chemical Cleaning, Hot Oil Flushing, Pumping Operations, Defueling and Fuel Transfer Operations.
  • Verify that permits, barricades, signage, safety equipment, and required documentation are properly in place.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, pre-job briefings, safety meetings, and site inspections.
  • Assist with customer audits and internal safety walkthroughs.
  • Document safety observations, near misses, incidents, and policy violations.
  • Complete inspection reports and required safety documentation accurately and timely.
  • Report hazards and safety concerns to the Safety Supervisor or Safety & Health Manager.
  • Assist with maintaining inspection logs and tracking corrective actions.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through active field presence and professional communication.
  • Assist employees with understanding PPE requirements and jobsite safety expectations.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, customers, and field personnel regarding safety issues.
  • Support new employee orientations and safety training initiatives.
