About The Position

The successful candidate for the Shipping position will verify and keep records on outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment by performing the following duties. This role includes various levels from Entry Level to Lead, with increasing responsibilities and skill requirements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attendance and dependability, maintain a clean and organized work environment, follow all company policies and procedures, and apply a high level of attention to detail and focus. The ability to work collaboratively with team members to support productivity and operational efficiency is also essential.

Requirements

  • Ability to accurately count items and understand unit of measures.
  • Ability to accurately read product orders.
  • Ability to safely operate and become certified in both forklift and scissor lifts.
  • Ability to perform all U.S. invoicing duties.
  • Ability to read computer files or gather records such as purchase orders, sales tickets, and charge slips, to compile needed data.
  • Ability to print packing lists for orders shipped and generate back orders.
  • Ability to wrap and bundle tubing for orders as needed.
  • Ability to package parts as needed to fulfill the work order.
  • Ability to affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils, post weights and shipping charges, affix postage, and bind containers with tape.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with personnel in other departments.
  • Ability to compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure items of incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Ability to examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Ability to ensure all packages have the correct amount of padding.
  • Ability to determine method of shipment, prepare bills of lading and oversee and assist loading operations.
  • Ability to load/unload branch trucks (flatbeds).
  • Ability to give direction and/or lead peers.

Responsibilities

  • Verify and keep records on outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment.
  • Accurately count items and understand unit of measures.
  • Accurately read product orders.
  • Safely operate and become certified in both forklift and scissor lifts.
  • Perform all U.S. invoicing duties, including selecting for billing, printing invoices, separating invoices, matching invoices to orders, and distributing invoice copies for mailing and/or filing.
  • Read computer files or gather records such as purchase orders, sales tickets, and charge slips, to compile needed data.
  • Print packing lists for orders shipped and generate back orders at the time of original order shipment.
  • Wrap and bundle tubing for orders as needed.
  • Package parts as needed to fulfill the work order.
  • Affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons, and post weights and shipping charges, and affix postage, and bind containers with tape when required.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with personnel in other departments to ensure proper coordination of accounts receivable function.
  • Compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure items of incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Ensure all packages have the correct amount of padding so that it is insurable through our carrier.
  • Determine method of shipment, prepare bills of lading and oversee and assist loading operations by tier lift truck or manually.
  • Load/Unload branch trucks (flatbeds).
  • Give direction and/or lead peers (for Lead position).
  • Show interest in learning additional skills (for Lead position).
  • Show good decision-making skills without supervision (for Lead position).
