The Shipping/Receiving I is responsible for assisting in receiving, storing, pulling, and loading orders for distribution while maintaining an organized warehouse with controlled record keeping. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate detailed information to customers, coworkers and management.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact in a positive and professional manner to develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers, coworkers and management.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and/or pallet jack.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate computer and computer software, to include Microsoft Office products and MRP.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Unpacks, examines and routes incoming shipments, rejects damaged items and records shortages. Works with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Verifies that all items pulled are the correct part number and in the quantity ordered.
  • Documents any variances from the pick ticket or customer order to what was picked, so confirmation and invoicing will be correct.
  • Records shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes.
  • Determines shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Delivers or routes materials to departments, using work devices, such as hand truck, conveyor, or sorting bins.
  • Safely and securely packs, seals, labels, and affixes postage to prepare materials for shipping, using work devices such as hand tools, power tools, and postage meter.
  • Ensures items are put away in the proper place in an orderly fashion, and that aisles and doorways remain clear to minimize possible accidents.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. Secures tools, materials and equipment at end of day.
